About Qutbnuma: why a compass?

The name

Qutbnuma (قطب نما) is the everyday Urdu word for a compass. Literally it means “the thing that shows the qutb”: qutb is the pole star and the fixed point a needle turns on, and -numa means “showing”, as in rahnuma, a guide. Say it KUTB-noo-maa; many people in Karachi say “qutub-numa”, and that is fine too.

A compass does not walk the road for you. It tells you, honestly and every time, which way is true. That is the whole job of a placement service. We do not teach your child. We find the one person who will, and we check them before they reach your door.

Our tagline says the same thing in two languages: The right tutor. The right direction. (Sahi tutor. Sahi simt.)

The logo

The mark is a compass dial with a needle whose tail passes through the ring to form a Q. The terracotta tip is the direction: the match we make. The small centre point is the qutb, the fixed point. In our work, that fixed point is your child, and everything turns around what they need.

Who runs Qutbnuma

Qutbnuma was started in 2026 by Muhammad Shaniyal, who lives in Nazimabad, Karachi. He reads every request, speaks to every tutor and makes every match himself. That is why we started with five nearby areas (Nazimabad, North Nazimabad, FB Area, Gulberg Town and Gulshan-e-Iqbal) where we can check tutors and follow up properly, plus online tuition anywhere.

Our honesty rules

• We name the check, not a claim. We tell parents exactly what was checked for each tutor: CNIC and degree seen, references called, interview held, police certificate provided or not. No “100% verified” badges.
• No invented numbers. No tutor counts, placement counts or “#1 in Karachi”. When we publish a number, it will be real and dated.
• No fake reviews. Reviews appear only with a parent’s written permission: first name, area and class only.
• Fees in writing, before you confirm. Rs 0 registration; our share is 50% of the first month’s fee (35% for short tuition), and nothing else.
• Tutors are independent. We introduce and check them; they are not our staff. We never hold a tutor’s money.
• We say when we cannot help. If we have no suitable tutor for your block or timing, we tell you, and offer online tuition where it makes sense.
